Getting to Shenzhen Polo Academy

Whether you are coming from Hong Kong or Guangdong, reaching the Shenzhen Polo Academy is simple and straightforward. While the first journey might feel unfamiliar, it quickly becomes an easy routine. Explore the transport options below to find the best route for you. Coming From Hong Kong

  • High-Speed Ferry (HK Island Route)

    The ferry is the most direct option for those coming from Hong Kong Island. Boats depart from the Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan (accessible via MTR Exit D).

    The Journey: A 45 to 60-minute sailing to the Shekou Cruise Homeport. We recommend booking tickets online in advance to secure your preferred time slot here. You can also purchase tickets at the terminal.

    Immigration: This terminal is generally less crowded than land borders; clearing customs typically takes 5–10 minutes.

    Final Leg: Upon exiting the terminal, a taxi to the Academy takes approximately 5-8 minutes.

  • Cross-Border Bus (HK & Kowloon Route)

    The bus offers the most pickup locations, including Sheung Wan (Shun Tak Centre), Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Prince Edward. You can purchase tickets online here.

    The Journey: The ride to the Shenzhen Bay Port takes about 45 minutes from Sheung Wan.

    Immigration: Shenzhen Bay utilises a "co-location" arrangement for both HK and Chinese customs. On weekends, foreign passport holders should allow 10–15 minutes for processing.

    Final Leg: From the Shenzhen side of the port, a taxi to the Academy takes approximately 15 minutes.

  • Private Transfer (Door-to-Door)

    Private car & chauffeur services provide a direct route from any address in Hong Kong to the Academy. We can arrange this on your behalf or you can book via Klook here.

    The Journey: This is a seamless option as it removes the need to change vehicles at the border.

    Border Crossing: While you will need to briefly alight to clear Mainland Chinese immigration via the passenger hall, you will reunite with your driver immediately on the other side and can leave any bags/luggages in the car.

    Final Leg: The driver will drop you off directly at the Academy’s main entrance.

  • High-Speed Rail (Kowloon Route)

    The rail is often the fastest way to cross the border for those starting in Kowloon or the New Territories.

    The Journey: Trains run from West Kowloon Station to Futian Station or Shenzhen North. The trip to Futian takes approximately 15–20 minutes.

    Booking: A valid passport or Home Return Permit is required for booking. It is advisable to reserve tickets through the 12306 website or Klook here.

    Final Leg: Futian is the most convenient station for the Academy. A taxi from the station takes roughly 35–40 minutes depending on local traffic.

Tips & Notes

Streamline The Border Passing (Pre-fill the Arrival Card)

To save time at the border, we recommend pre-filling the digital Mainland China Arrival Card if you are a foreign passport holder. Simply scan the QR code (or simply search “China Arrival Card” on Google and you can complete the form on your phone during your ferry or bus ride.

Transport Within Shenzhen (Using DiDi)

While traditional taxis are available at all ports, we recommend using DiDi. You can use the English version within the global DiDi app or the mini-program inside Alipay/WeChat.

  • Ease of Use: You can type the Academy’s address in English, and the app handles the translation for the driver.

  • Payment: You can link international credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) directly to the app, which is a convenient alternative to carrying cash.

  • Communication: The in-app chat features an automated translator, making it simple to coordinate with your driver if needed.
